Welcoming the next generation of business leaders

Carey hosted four admissions events in March to introduce new students to the Carey community.

Every year, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School hosts a series of events to give incoming students a firsthand look at the Carey community. This year, we held the Spring Open House and Admitted Student Days in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and China. These events offered students the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff, and current students to learn more about their program of interest, experiential opportunities, and to solidify their decision to attend Carey.

Across all events, Carey welcomed over 300 incoming full-time and part-time MBA, Master of Science, and dual degree students. Attendees engaged in various speaker sessions with academic program directors and key Carey departments such as Career & Life Design, experiential learning, and more. Program breakout sessions allowed students to learn about life at Carey, interact with student leaders and alumni, and receive guidance on the next steps to complete enrollment. Baltimore attendees also had the opportunity to experience a graduate-level course by participating in a sample class–Forward Thinking and a Growth Mindset led by Carey Professor Rick Milter.

Carey faculty and staff, including senior leadership like Vice Dean for Education and Partnerships Lasse Mertins; Associate Dean for Global Collaborations Oksana Carlson; and Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Admissions Kelly Farmer, attended the events in Shanghai and Beijing to highlight the Carey community, our full-time Master of Science programs, and the extensive alumni connections that graduates can leverage if they return to work in China after graduation.

“We host Admitted Students Day to warmly welcome our full-time students to Carey,” said Shannon Dunn, director of recruitment for part-time programs. “The event provides an opportunity to connect with the admissions team, gain valuable insights from the current student panel, and engage with our Career & Life Design team. It’s designed to inspire excitement and prepare students for the next steps in their academic journey.”

In addition to our admitted student events, our 2025 Spring Open House brought together prospective and admitted students to learn more about Carey and give them a glimpse of student life. Spring Open House allows Carey to connect with our future students and help them take the next step in their academic and professional journeys.
